This area, approaching Savannah from the north, is very natural and clearly supports fishing. There are also signs warning boats to proceed carefully, especially in shallow areas and inlets, to avoid injuring manatees. Manatees are sometimes also called "sea cows" because these large, gentle creatures graze on the tender underwater grasses, moving slowly and being vulnerable to fast motorboats.
